Introduction
Welcome to my site. I'm a hobbyist keeper and breeder of Royal Pythons (Python Regius) and Royal Python morphs. Morphs are a colour and/or pattern mutation that differ from the normal Royal Pythons that you would see in the wild. Most of the base mutations, such as Pastels, Spiders and Albinos etc. came about as wild caught genetic mutations that were imported from Africa by various breeders. They were bred to the normal wild type Ball Pythons in captivity to reproduce these morphs. There are literally hundreds of morphs out there, you only have to "Google" the words "Ball Python morph" to see just some of the many wonderful pattern and colour mutations. There is so much variation, and so many possibilities to create new combinations. This is probably the main reason why there are so many owners of these little Pythons.
The Royal Python, or Ball Python as it's widely known, is a relatively small, heavy bodied, docile, placid little snake, that generally thrives in captivity given the right conditions, making it relatively easy to keep as long as you understand the needs and care of them - this goes with keeping any species of any animal. They very rarely bite, as they have a tendency to curl up into a ball rather than bite, hence the name "Ball Python". With males generally around 3-4 feet and females 4-5 feet in length, this is a Python that requires small housing - anyone has room for one of these. A 3ft long vivarium is ample space to house even the largest Ball Python, or 33 or 50 Litre RUBs if you have several and need the more "space friendly" option as I do. It doesn't matter whether you choose male or female, both make equally good pets.
The purpose of my site is to give a little insight into my hobby, and as a platform to showcase any surplus animals for sale that I have no breeding plans for. Any surplus young will go towards the feeding of my greedy lot, and to part fund any new Python purchases in the future. I'm not a business - I just have an addiction that can get expensive!! My aim is to work up to owning a couple of the higher end morphs that are out there, and to breed some nice combinations of my own.
Thank you for visiting and taking the time to read, and I hope that maybe you'll learn a little something along the way. If your intrigued and would like to own one of these animals, check out my Care and feeding page. This will give you the basic idea of what it involves to look after a Ball Python. Please make sure that you do all the research you can before buying your first Ball Python. Knowledge of the species you are keeping is invaluable.
